chopped meat

I got a call yesterday from a New York area code. Since we now live in NY, that shouldn't surprise me but having been here only a couple of weeks I am not expecting any local calls. The woman identified herself as the school nurse and instantly in my head I am bracing myself for a very bad news. Big M was at gym class when he was told to take his shoes off and to leave only his socks. Immediately thereafter, he slipped and landed on his teeth/lips. Of course the nurse didn't know the details at the time, so all she told me was that they were doing some gymnastics when he fell from a low height. She said he was bloody but fine and that she could him with her to keep an eye on him.

About an hour later the nurse called again and said Big M was still bleeding that it would be best to pick him up. So I called Daddy, and Daddy picked him up while I look for a dentist and trying to not to lose my mind panicking.

To make the long story short, the top left and the tooth right next to it are now very lose. The dentist x-rayed him and said there should be no damage to the root of the permanent teeth. Big M is very sore but he will be fine. According to Daddy, he was told to beg the dentist to pull the 2 teeth out so that he could get money from the tooth fairy. Yeah, by this time Daddy wanted to take him back to school.

The boy is turning 7 years old this weekend and I can't help but be reminded of the few days before his first birthday when he fell from a toy chest and busted his lip and earned him his first trip to the ER. I guess I should count ourselves lucky since he has made it this long without going back to the ER.

First teeth lost

My Android phone is my external hard drive. It truly is. Without it there will be a log or details in my children's life that would be forever lost.

On June 15th, I picked up my son from summer camp missing his 2 bottom teeth. He said the teacher helped him wiggle them and get them off. Thank you! Both Daddy and I were too much of a chicken to really work the teeth out, even though they were barely hanging on. That evening the tooth fairy wired on a personalized letter to leave for Big M. It had $10 enclosed. Yeah, Big M hit the jackpot on that one. The toothfairy set herself up on that one. She would have no one to blame when Big M expects a sports car the next time.

Some backyard fun and random pictures

The girls, Little M and I played in the backyard for a bit after taking Big M to school. We bounced a beach ball around and then K and J helped Little M play with the basketball.

K helping Little M with the ball, or taking it away from him. I can't tell.

K guarding Little M.

J's 2nd boo boo on the exact same spot! She went nose first on the wood chips in the playground at school.

Playing water gun in the front yard. The front yard is nice and shady in the afternoon, which makes it perfect to play in even in the hot weather. It's really like a second backyard.

My carpet Lillies are finally blooming!

My little apricot rose. Love the color!

J is behind her paper doll fashion show.

K's fashion show is all about dresses, but she ran out of glamorous dresses with the third doll.

Big M showing his 2 front teeth that are about to fall out. They're pointing straight out!

toothy grin

The weaning process has begun! He is definitely allergic to milk so we've gone straight to soy milk. It took a sip everyday from a cop to get him used to it and now he is. He doesn't drink much, only a couple of ounces total for a day. He holds his cup but do not tilt his head so we must hold it for him (even his sisters and brother).

His first 2 teeth finally came in at 10 months. The pictures above are only a week and half old. Today his upper teeth are very swollen with teeth just waiting to come out. There are 2 peaks already.

Little M is great at self-feeding! He likes cheerios, Gerber stars, bread, rice, carrots, meat sticks. I must admit that at this age, J and K only ate baby food when we go out, so I am actually not doing so well in this department. I've been buying baby food for the sake of convenience. I want to get him to self-feed because if his sisters were any indication, he would be a great eater as he gets older because of it.

sometimes the twins have the best time on their own

Thing 2 on the left, Thing 1 on the right.

Teeth update: Thing 1's upper left molar is 1/2 out, and her the upper left is starting to poke through. The 2 lower molars are not far behind. All four of Thing 2's molars are also erupting.

Thing 1 now wears a pink enamel flower earring and Thing 2 wears a blue one (thanks Nana). With the color contrast, we're hoping Curious George would now be able to tell them apart (though it's difficult at times, since their hair is so long they cover their ears).

there were 2 little monkeys, jumping on the couch....

"one fell down and bumped her head. Momma called the doctor and the doctor said, "No more monkeys jumping on the [couch]!"

The little man just loves the story of the jumping monkeys. Thankfully, none of my 2 monkeys fell on from the couch this time.

(Thing 1 is on the right, wearing green. Thing 2 is on the left, wearing cream.)

They both have 8 teeth right now, and are getting ready to get molars. Thing 1 is a little further along and is pretty cranky. She woke up crying last night because of the pain.

free roam of the house

You can find Thing 1 & Thing 2 on enjoying the kitchen floor these days.

Thing 1 hugs her Giraffe. I asked her to give it a kiss and instead she had the Giraffe kiss her.

Thing 2 enjoys looking at herself on the camera while I take pictures. I addition to her 6 big chompers, 2 new ones on the bottom are peaking out.

Thing 1 converses with Thing 2 on the big chair. I bet they're trying to compare notes on how to be more mischievous.

A-ha! You see? You see Thing 2's face? They probably had just come up with something really bad to do.
