Busy little monkey

I am too busy lately to sit on the computer long enough to post birthday pictures so here's one. Once a week we take his sisters to dance class so I try and bring things that would distract him. And nothing does a better job than food. So here is little m munching away at his Cheerios and showing his 2 upper teeth finally poking through.

He is very good with all the errands we do. And lately if I let him walk around, he is even happier. He walks fast holding on with on hand and he with some urging he walks about 5 steps unassisted. Today I even saw him start to walk without encouragement.

The weaning process has begun! He is definitely allergic to milk so we've gone straight to soy milk. It took a sip everyday from a cop to get him used to it and now he is. He doesn't drink much, only a couple of ounces total for a day. He holds his cup but do not tilt his head so we must hold it for him (even his sisters and brother).

His first 2 teeth finally came in at 10 months. The pictures above are only a week and half old. Today his upper teeth are very swollen with teeth just waiting to come out. There are 2 peaks already.

Little M is great at self-feeding! He likes cheerios, Gerber stars, bread, rice, carrots, meat sticks. I must admit that at this age, J and K only ate baby food when we go out, so I am actually not doing so well in this department. I've been buying baby food for the sake of convenience. I want to get him to self-feed because if his sisters were any indication, he would be a great eater as he gets older because of it.

The girls recently had their first try at the big table eating meatloaf, and rice. They are truly their mama's daughters. Filipinos eat rice 3x a day, but of course I've been toned down since living in the U.S. I can go for days without rice before I crave it. I wonder if the girls would be the same. Curious George is proving to be the opposite; he doesn't like rice or at least he says he doesn't. Depending on what is with the rice, he says he likes it.

Thing 2 enjoying a peach soy yogurt. She actually did pretty good using the spoon, until she decided to use it with the opposite end first.

I tried the girls on Big Bro's sponge bob table, and they thoroughly enjoyed it. This is snack time, and on the menu is Graham Bug Bites cracker (milk free!) and cut up bananas. I also gave them a fork to try out for the first time. I find the fact that their feet do not reach the floor very cute. (Thing 2 on the left, Thing 1 on the right)





At one point, Thing 2 looked like she was trying to get off the chair, so I stepped in and helped. But based on her loud whailing, she didn't want to get off. So I had to sit her back in. She was then happy again.

Big Brother was snacking on the big table at the same time, so I had to check with him that it was alright for his sisters to use his table. He said yes. I suggested that we buy a square table, in order for everyone to have a space. He said no. He said he wanted to sit on the big table. But I may look at a square girly table anyway.

Some time this morning, I got two baby books and showed/read them to the twins. They loved the pictures of the babies; Thing 1 kissed the picture of a girl repeatedly. Then I left them to enjoy the books on their own. After I had gone to the kitchen and walked around aimlessly for a few minutes staring at the dirty dishes and pondering whether I wanted to clean them or not, I go back to check on the girls and found them ripping paper covering the binding and eating the paper! So I take the books a way.

Late in the afternoon, in preparing to leave to meet the boys for our Friday picnic, I gather diapers and baby wipes and took then inside the play yard to change diapers. Consistent to what I've been doing a lot lately, I leave the box of wipes in the play yard. I then go upstairs and get dressed. By the time I got back down to the living room, here is what I saw.



I swear these two girls conspired to drive me crazy today when I am already going crazy suffering from womanly pains (cramps).

where does it all go?

Thing 2 hasn't stopped stuffing her face since the weekend. Just watch her put all of that waffle in her mouth. It's quite fascinating.



Thing 1 also stuffs her face, but she seems to be more lady-like today.

Right after I shot these videos, I run to the laptop to upload them on youtube. After 10 minutes, I go to check on the twins and here is what I saw.



After eating all those waffles, I guess there's nothing else to do but to take a late morning siesta.

Nana has good food!

Thing 2 and Thing 1 had their first real chicken, roast beef, and ham this weekend.

Thing 2 stuffed her mouth with a banana.

In trying to stuff our large family in the mini-van, we had to down size a few things. The girls' Graco high-chair were not going to work at all for the trip, unless we wanted someone to ride in the cargo top. So we bought two booster seats instead. These Firsher-Price Healthy Care Booster seats were our answer. It worked out quite well. The twins got to show case their self-feeding ability to Nana. Would you believe each of these two munchkins ate more than their Big Brother at each meal?

It was pizza night last night at casa de los patos. Can you believe I found a pizza place who has drive-thru? Woo hoo! I cut the crust edge on a couple of pizzas and gave them Katie and Jojo. Matty was telling me about his day at school and how he went to the quiet mat twice. As you can imagine, I was engrossed. I turned to see how Katie and Jojo were doing and Jojo was already done with her pizza, while Katie hasn't even finished a forth of it. So I cut another crust and gave it to Jojo. After a few minutes, it was gone again. I searched the floor, and searched her high-chair, but no... it was trully gone. I got one more to give her. She finished the 3rd one just as Katie was finished her first. Holy moly, she was hungry!

I forgot to show a video from the girls' birthday, so here it is. Jojo is on the right (cream/green high-chair) munching away on her cupcake. It took Katie a while to get into her cupcakes.



This one was taken after they just had their lunch. They were full and happy and talkative.

my little veggie eaters

I've been meaning to post these pictures for a while, but been so busy. This was lunch a couple of weeks ago. On the menu: steamed brocolli and carrots with Gerber toddler meatsticks. Did they like them? Oh you betcha, they did.

Katie didn't slow down until her tray was empty. Jojo slowed down and got distracted halfway through.

How could I have known it would be this messy

The box says biter biscuits are great for self-feeders. Great for who? Certainly not for me. Biter biscuits = two unscheduled baths. I thought Jojo was dirty, but Katie proved me wrong.
