Unlike the girls and adults in the family, Big M has only exactly 2 pairs of shoes. He has a tennis shoes and snow boots. For school, it isn't working out so much. He wore his tennis shoes one day after it had rained and he said water seeped through to his socks at recess. So then I told made him bring his snow boots and tennis shoes to school, but he is not adept yet at tying his laces that he kept his snow boots on. The boots were not the best thing indoors because they were too warm. He also was not allowed to play in the snow because only kids with snow pants were allowed to.
Today I took Big M to go shoe shopping and decided to get him a waterproof hiking boots. It will keep his feet warm and dry for the still cool and yet to come wet weather. The problem is that we are almost into spring and these snow boots were no longer in stock so we went to store after store after store. Finally we found one. Hopefully between snow boots, hiking boots and tennis shoes he is all covered. I'm not going to bother getting snow pants now of course though.
Next year I will be ready for the winter - 3 snow pants and 3 snow boots.
I HAD to take Big M to this clown show because the first time we tried to attend the same show at the public library we were turned away because the place was already full.
This was at the mall, and an hour before the show the place was already filled. I let Big M sit on the floor in front of the stage area and Little M and I just stayed on the perimeter. Right before the shoe started, the host called the kids for a scavenger hunt - for a family pack ticket to the Barnum & Bailey circus. One of the things the kids had to bring to the host was a man or a boy's sneaker. I could see that Big M wasn't participating so imagine my surprise when I saw someone waving a shoe just like his in the air. At first I thought it couldn't be his, but then again how many of these kids wore Star Wars shoes? Then as I tiptoed to see where he was to check whether he still had his shoes on, I saw another kid waiving the foot of a Star Wars shoe!
Finally I found his spot and yelled out his name. I mouthed out "Where are your shoes?" He shrugged his shoulder I don't know. Oh great. At that point I started thinking of ways how to get him through the parking lot bare footed in this 100+ degree weather. Finally when the scavenger hunt was over, I saw him putting his shoes back on. He then waved a hand waving a quarter. His smile was huge. How very enterprising of my son.
As we were about to leave, he won a voucher for a free ticket. Lucky boy.
Thing 1 and I are back at home in VA for her 2-yr old well baby check. She weighs in at 32.2 lbs and 34 3/4 inches tall. She is on the 75th percentile which is awesome! I can remember when she was barely at 30th percentile.
I took her to Stride Rite after since both her and Thing 2's shoes are getting harder to put on. Her current shoes is size 6 1/2. Today her feet measured in at 8 1/2! We are torturing her by stuffing her feet in shoes that are 2 whole sizes too small!
This is a cute one. And thankfully for me it comes in pink for Thing 2. The time will come when they will pick their own clothing style and shoes (in fact they are starting to do that now) but for now it'll drive me crazy for them not to have matching things.
Last weekend while at the mall, Daddy and I decided that it's about time to get Curious George a new pair of shoes. While there, we decided to get the girls measured. Surprise, surprise, everyone's feet has gotten so long! I think Daddy thinks it abuse that the the kids (the girls especially) are using 3 half sizes too small.
Stride Rite didn't have a matching pair for the girls, so they had to order one from another store and it arrived today. So here they are modeling their new shoes. Why naked you ask? Well, the girls were wearing a full sleeper with feet, so I had to unzip them and then Thing 2 just had to take her clothes all off an Thing 1 followed suit, and then Curious George just had to join in on the fun.

Curious George's feet went from 10 to size 11. He loved this shoe because it had his favorite color, orange.
Thing 1's feet grew from size 5W to between 6 - 6.5 regular. This shoe is size 6.5.
Thing 2 went from 5 to a full 6.5. Her feet is slightly longer than Thing 1, but much skinnier.
The girls' shoes look so much bigger to me that I'm worried it might trip them. I wanted to go to size 6, but the salesperson said if we get size 6, they may only get a month to a month and a half out of them. We wouldn't want that!
We found out at the shoe store that Thing 1 is size 5 Wide and Thing 2 is size 5 Regular. So I dug out Big Brother's box of baby shoes to see if there is anything the girls can use. I found a brown pair of sandals that I bought for dressy occasions. Unfortunately, by the time the dressy occasion came, the shoe was already too small. But as luck would have it, it's size 5 Wide! Yay!

Then there is a matter of this red Wiggles which has become a source of some loud noise. As was obvious from the previous videos, everyone wants it. Daddy and I agreed that we may have to buy one more. I think we can get away with just one more since of the girls is content just pushing whoever is on it. We'll see.
Thing 2 and Big Brother "playing" together. Thing 1 has been whisked away to bed at this point to keep the peace.
Thing 1's confidence in her ability to walk doubles everyday and finally this morning, I caught it on video.
After driving Big Bro to school, we headed to my orthopaedic appointment. We arrived 15 minutes early so I freed the girls from the stroller and let them roam around. Luckily for me, they didn't roam too far. They provided great entertainment for the people there.
Unfortunately or fortunately (it depends on which angle I view it), I will have to undergo arthroscopic surgery for both my knees. The 12 weeks of physical therapy provided only minimal improvement. The doctor can do the surgery right away, but it's not that easy with 3 little ones. I opted for about January to coordinate help from the hubby's parents. The surgery will only be for 1 knee to see if it improves. If it does, then the other knee will be done as well. If it were up to me, I'd go for both knees but it doesn't make sense if there is a possibility that the surgery won't help.
My two princess were wearing dresses today. The weather was on the cool side (finally!).

Big Bro's ginormous feet: Size 10 shoe at 3 1/2 years old (about 7 1/2 inches)
I decided to buy Big Bro a pair of new shoes last week and found out that his feet is even bigger now. I picked up a size 9 toddler, but he was quick to tell me that it was too small when I attempted to put it on. So I looked for the foot size measuring thingamabob. I couldn't find it so I had to ask a lady who works there. She measured his feet and said he was a size 10. Ten?! In some stores, size 10 is already a youth size! Oh my. For the whole day, Big Bro kept saying, "I'm a 10! The lady said I'm a 10!"
(Thing 1 standing, Thing 2 sitting) The Robeez shoes I ordered online arrived today. So here are the girls modeling their new shoes. They are wearing a 24 month old shirt, and 18 month old pants and I must say, it makes them look very grown up. We are keeping up with the ponytail because that is the only one they cannot pull off.
Thing 1 has been standing up by herself without holding on to anything for a while now, but she's been doing it a lot more in the last few days. She stands up, squats down halfway and then stands back up again. I've also been getting her to practice taking steps and so far she can take 2 steps before making a dive for me.
