the Great Smoky Mountains and family

We spent the weekend in the Great Smoky Mountains to attend my mother-in-law's family reunion. While there we explored the Cherokee Indian Reservation, which was busy with tourists. We stayed at the motel my MIL's father built. It is now on the 3rd owner after her father. It was my first time there, though I had seen it before. It was the kids' first time. Though the motel brought back a lot of fond memories for Daddy, he said it didn't hold the magic he remembered it having as a child. I think the big part of that magic is his grandparents. Grandparents are special like that. But I think it holds a different kind of magic, though - the kids and I being able to share part of Daddy's childhood.

Curious George went fishing in the back with his Papaw and cousin. This is one of the fish he caught.

Enjoying the big pool.

  1. Hi there. I found your blog while I was searching for "milk allergy" and WIC. I see it's been a few months since that post you did about needing soy milk through WIC, and hopefully you found this out by now, but you can get almost any special formula if you get your doctor to write a prescription for it, then take it to the wic office. OR they will fill out the infant special request form and fax it to the wic office for you. I had to get Alimentum Ready to Feed for my baby because of a milk and a corn allergy, and I got it with a doctors note. I'm worried they won't cover it after she turns 1, but I'm going to get a more current prescription and hope for the best. Good luck! if you have any questions you can email me at heatheresplin (at) yahoo dot com.
